Remodeling your bathroom is a rewarding, but challenging project to take on. With so many styles and themes to choose from these days, it can seem like a daunting task. Here are some things you should carefully think through before jumping right into it.
The first thing you should look into is how you want your new bathroom to look. Do you just want a partial remodel and fix up, or a full-scale remodel and possibly even change the location of where the fixtures are in your bathroom? Unless you really dislike the location of your toilet, sink, and tub, it is not recommended to change the location of these fixtures as you will need to spend thousands of dollars extra for new plumbing.
Bathroom Remodeling Companies
Once you have a good idea of how you want your bathroom to look, the second thing to consider is which bathroom remodeling company you want to hire. Many companies offer free bathroom remodeling estimates. You should find out if they are able to build the bathroom you have in mind. If you are having a new floor and tub/shower tile installed, it is a good idea to ask the company you are considering hiring for pictures of their past work. This will give some insight as to the quality of work they do, and you may see design layouts that you like more than what you currently have in mind.
Countertops, Floors, Tub/Shower, Sink, and Toilet
When choosing your countertops and floors, you’ll want to choose them based on how they will look together, and not just what you like more individually. The counters and floors you choose should also fit the theme of the rest of your bathroom. If you have a pedestal sink and no countertops or vice versa, you should consider if you want to switch from one to the other. Having a pedestal sink does make your bathroom roomier but you miss out on having a countertop, and you have to store your toiletries in a separate area. If you have a shower stall, maybe you want to convert it to a tub if you have space. Or if you don’t take many baths, you might want to consider replacing your tub with a shower stall to create more space. Selecting a new toilet shouldn’t be too difficult and will probably require the least amount of consideration.
